In Whistler, Myrtle Philip Community School opened in 1992 and is located on Lorimer Road in Whistler Cay. More than 450 students are enrolled in kindergarten through Grade 6.
A second elementary community school, Spring Creek Elementary, opened in south Whistler 2004. Whistler Secondary opened in 1996 and has more than 390 students enrolled in grades 7-12. Both facilities offer community recreation programs and activities through the municipality.
A report by Vancouver’s Fraser Institute titled Studies in Education Policy ranked Whistler Secondary School #33 out of 279 in the province of British Columbia for the 2001/02 school year. Over the past five years, the average ranking for Whistler Secondary was 66. The school also scored 7.7 out of 10 in 2001/02 and achieved an average score of seven over the past five years.
